Auburn Ice Hawks are proud to announce Austin Block as the new Director of Hockey and Development!

The Auburn Ice Hawks could not be more excited with their continued partnership with Austin Block.

Hockey has been a part of Austin’s life and has somewhat defined him in over the 20 years he played. However, there is so much more to the culture engraved in the sport of hockey than people realize. After his father threw him on skates at the ripe age of 3, Austin was instantly hooked. Austin was born in Denver, CO where his family quickly relocated to suburbia Detroit for the next 5 years. From then on, he grew up in Southern California playing youth hockey for competitive organizations like the LA Selects, SoCal Titans, and Los Angeles Jr. Kings. Upon graduating high school, he took his talents up to Fairbanks, AK to play for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs in the North American Hockey League (NAHL). He played two years in Fairbanks initially committing to play at the prestigious Air Force Academy. However, the stars aligned and offensive production flourished in his second year sparking interest from multiple highly cultured hockey programs that always seemed out of his reach. Realizing his potential, he decided to accept a full scholarship to play at The University of New Hampshire in 2009. After a successful four year career at UNH, he graduated with a BA in Interpersonal Communication and Media Studies. After the completion of a successful senior year he decided to sign his first professional contract for IFK of the Finnish Elite League. He would spend the next two season overseas playing in Sweden, Germany, and Slovakia. After an enjoyable experience overseas, he decided to come back stateside to finish his playing career in North America where he played for a myriad of teams, including a great stint with the Manchester Monarchs and Orlando Solar Bears. He credits his personal success in the sport of hockey to his father who taught him many things, but mainly self-accountibility, respect, and dedication to making people around him better with his positive attitude and impeccable work ethic. He couldn’t be more excited for his new endeavor with the Auburn organization and hopes to not only develop great hockey players, but selfless and mature student-athletes.
