Hockey 101

Welcome to Youth Hockey

You have decided to enter into the world of youth hockey and we are so excited for you to join us! This can be a great learning experience for both you and your player and we want to provide you with all the information and some tips to ensure you have a great start!

Equipment

The equipment needed to play ice hockey and seem overwhelming. We do not want you to feel that way!

The picture below shows you the equipment required to participate as a skater.

**You will want to have a base player of clothing, a nice large bag to keep your equipment in, skate guards for the blades, and a water bottle labeled with your players name on it**

Rink and Positions for Half Ice

This diagram shows you where players typically are positioned for the Tykes (6u) and Mite (8U) levels during their half ice game play. The other side of the boards typically has another Tyke or Mite game going on at the same time!

Rink and Positions for Full Ice

This diagram shows the different parts of the ice rink and where the positions line up on the opening faceoff. This is relevant for all levels 10u and above.
