Auburn Mites take Rome Championship- Padula 8U

AUBURN MITES CAPTURE CHAMPIONSHIP IN ROME
The Auburn Ice Hawks Mites (white) team Padula dropped their first game Friday afternoon of the tournament to Rome #2 0-1 with goalie Connor Wilcox making 11 saves.  This game was a hard fought defensive game played by both teams. 
In Saturday’s first game Auburn Ice Hawks Mites (white) team Padula skated to a 2-2 tie against New Hartford.  Goals came from Ryan Padula and Evan Bulla with helpers from Peter MacIntyre and Gavin Wakeham.  Connor Wilcox recorded 13 saves.
Saturday’s 2nd game was another hard fought defensive game with the Auburn Ice Hawks Mite (white) team Padula capturing their first win of the tournament against Rome #1 2-1.  Evan Malloy and Morgan Winslow each recorded goals while Nate Forward, Greg Bates, and Maloy were each credited with assists in the contest.  Connor Wilcox turned away 17 shots.
In Sunday’s Semi-Finals game Auburn squared off against Rome #1 again coming out victorious with a 3-0 win. Greg Bates scored 2 goals while Gavin Wakeham netted the other.  Ryan Padula and Mason Winslow were both credited with 2 assists each.  Connor Wilcox made 18 saves.
In the Championship Game Auburn rolled past Clifton Park with an 8-3 victory to secure the Championship.  This game was an all around team win with numerous players getting tallies on the scoresheet.  Evan Maloy paced the offense with 3 goals (hat trick) and 1 assist.  Other players to record goals in the game were Ryan Padula, Gavin Wakeham, Lilly Jones, Morgan Winslow, and Greg Bates.  Assists came from the sticks of the following: Mason Winslow 3 (play maker), while Jones, Bates, Wakeham, Padula, and Bulla were each credited with 1 apiece. Wilcox had 10 saves.
Coaching staff credited the teams defense lead by Evan Bulla, Nate Forward and Peter MacIntyre.
