    ICE HAWKS FAMILY,

DANNY SENNETT HAS BEEN A CLUB MEMBER, BOARD MEMBER AND LONG TIME ICE HAWKS SUPPORTER.  PLEASE READ THE MESSAGE BELOW FROM THE BENEFIT COMMITTEE AND HELP IN ANY WAY YOU CAN.

    Friends,

Again fate has delivered a blow to one of this community’s finest. To many this will be a complete surprise. The very nature of this gentleman wouldn’t allow him to complain or share his difficulties with many people beyond his close circle of family.

Our friend, Dan Sennett has been battling prostate cancer for some time now. Although the majority of you didn’t know this, Dan has been going through various treatments and has most recently been diagnosed as stage four. His sense of humor and positive attitude would have you believing that everything was fine and he just lost a few pounds chasing his grandchildren around.

I realize you all know Dan has been involved in so many aspects of Auburn... sporting life; bowling and golf as a young athlete and evolving to hockey, baseball, and Auburn High athletics as a parent and supporter. Dan was always the one to organize behind the scenes, head up funding-raising for additional needs, (from his own pocket - purchase jerseys for the team because they needed them) and whatever else it took for the kids to enjoy being kids.

His generosity isn’t limited to children. Many of us have participated in Danny’s “Sennett Memorial Golf Tournament” named in his father and grandfather’s memories. This event has raised thousands of dollars over the years; all of which has been donated to charities in an effort to draw awareness to and combat illness and disease. Each year, Dan would select a cause which had recently afflicted friends, associates, and community members. We know Dan’s generosity and gifting to these organizations has helped many, as they’ve struggled with their own fights.

It’s in this spirit that I let you know we will be holding an event in Danny’s honor. This will be your way of helping a friend that’s been there for so many when they’ve needed it most. We are hosting a Pasta dinner at Highland Golf Club on Franklin St. Road December 23rd at 5:00 pm.
We realize this time of year is filled with running and visiting family and friends. We ask that you join in the spirit of the season and come spend an evening with us doing exactly that.

In closing we wish you peace as you prepare for the holiday season with family and friends. We encourage you to come out December 23rd and spend time with us and others reflecting on the good old days. Maybe it was time spent in the press room at the Citizen, drinking coffee at the rink or sharing laughter in a hotel hallway, it may have been a golf tournament like no other you’ve participated in or a visit to Sennett’s Cottage, maybe you spent some time in the penalty box at Casey Park listening to Danny tell you “you shouldn’t have done that”. Granted, Highland Golf Club is not “Eeeeeeeconomy” but I can promise you the stories will be flowing similar to the way coffee always has at the front of the print shop.

I don’t know how you know Dan Sennett, all I do know is, …..If you know him, you’re a friend of his. Please come out and say hello.
If you’d like to donate a prize basket or a raffle item of any kind please contact one of us so that we can coordinate the donations. As always, your donations are gladly accepted at the door.

$15 advance sale tickets can be purchased by contacting anyone below or stopping into Highland Park Pro Shop or Savannah Bank in the Fingerlakes Mall. Donated goods and baskets are welcome. Please contact any of us to find out how to contribute.
